After a controversial and unjust arrest in April, Meek Mill has triumphantly returned with a new single titled “Stay Woke” featuring Miguel. Meek was arrested for violating parole and riding a dirt bike in New York City, which caused outrage and sparked debates about racial unrest in America. Keeping in relevance to the topic, Meek also performed “Stay Woke” at the BET Awards, where he and Miguel performed on a stage representing a street corner, with cops firing guns at kids playing behind them. Meek also payed homage to XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo during the performance, who were both shot and killed last week. Check out the performance and the official audio below.
However, this does not mark Meek’s first performance after getting out of jail; in May, he made an appearance at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami. He also turned down an offer to visit the White House. Meek’s last album was Wins & Losses, released in July; it’s unclear whether “Stay Woke” is a single off an upcoming album.
