Eminem Surprise-Drops New Album ‘Kamikaze’

Just 9 months after dropping the widely panned Revival, Eminem has returned with a new surprise album, titled Kamikaze. The album arrived with no promotion or announcements, aside from teasing a new song for the upcoming Marvel movie Venom (which shows up on the album). The album is executive produced by Dr. Dre and Em himself. The album features contributions from Royce da 5’9”, Joyner Lucas, and Jessie Reyez, as well as credits from Kendrick Lamar on “Greatest” and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon on “Fall”. Kamikaze also features behind-the-boards contributions from Mike WiLL Made-It, Boi-1da, Tay Keith and Ronny J. Its cover parodies the Beastie Boys’ License to Ill.

In the spirit of classic Slim Shady, Em name-drops a wide array of artists, including but not limited to Tyler, the Creator, MGK, Lil Yachty, Lil Xan and more. He also returns the Paul Rosenberg skits that were prevalent in his earlier work. Elsewhere, he makes references to October’s viral BET freestyle, the Secret Service, and even condemns Revival (“I took an L with my last album/And it hurt like hell, but I’m back on these rappers”).

Elsewhere in the year, Em made guest appearances on Royce da 5’9”’s Book of Ryan and Nicki Minaj’s Queen. Kamikaze is available to stream everywhere.
